ATD SCC Networking Guidelines
One mission
of ATD is to facilitate connection among its professional members. The network that you build through the
chapter should be viewed as an enhanced extension of the products and services
you currently provide to your internal and external clients. Appropriate networking that is comfortable
for all parties is part of that process.
We therefore strongly suggest following these guidelines:
- The membership directory is not a
solicitation tool. No member (or
non-member) is to undertake a mass mailing campaign using the directory to sell
products, services or job search.
- Effective networking involves
building relationships that are mutually beneficial. At ATD events, vendors should not introduce
themselves for the sole purpose of selling their products or services during
meetings.
- Only upon specific invitation may
members discuss their services or provide additional information to a
prospective client or employer.
- Members and guests should not
distribute or leave promotional materials on meeting tables unless the
materials are part of the presentation or approved by the board of
directors. Members are welcome to leave
promotional materials on the designated resources table during the meetings
they attend.
- It is understood that members may
selectively contact members at their businesses during which time they may
discuss their products or services or employment needs. However, they are to exercise good business
judgment.
- Members are requested to inform their
guests about the networking guidelines prior to attending a meeting.
We hope
these guidelines will help provide a comfortable, professional and pleasant
environment for members and guests.
